West Brom 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday: 4p Match Report

West Brom narrowly defeated promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 in the Championship, courtesy of a late penalty from substitute Charlie Austin.

Hal Robson-Kanu and Steven Fletcher scored for their respective sides before Austin scored the winning goal in the 87th minute from the spot, after Matheus Pereira was brought down in the box by Owls goalkeeper Kieran Westwood.

Gary Monk’s pain was then compounded shortly after when Liam Palmer was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Pereira in injury time.

This win for the Baggies means that they maintain their two point lead over second placed Leeds United, who also left it late to win 2-1 against Luton Town.
